Bedetti’s business begins at the end of the nineteenth century, when Augusto Bedetti starts working as a confectioner in a small workshop in Ancona. What began by chance for a ten-year old in need of work gradually became a great love for trade.

After having studied the best confectionery techniques in Turin, he opened his own shop, a small premises near Falconara station which gradually developed into a solid family business. In a copper cauldron in bain – marie, a soft, sweet-smelling mixture would cook for hours, which later came to be known as Bedetti’s Torrone.

At present, Bedetti’s confectionery business comprises a factory of 3000 sq. metres in the new industrial estate of Falconara with 80 sales agents operating from the valley of Aosta to the island of Sicily. But the torrone is now still made in the same way, still handmade, with the choicest ingredients. The first stages, the cooking, the ‘spianata’ (the rolling out) and the chocolate coating are entirely artisan.

In the last few years, Bedetti’s confectionery business has extended its range of products including panettoni (Italian Christmas cakes), Easter eggs, colombe (Easter cakes), biscuits, sweets and chocolates with one common denominator: Quality. They represent a rich range of colour, fragrance and originality, made more evident by the elegant packaging and the attention to details. Bedetti’s confectionery business focuses on specialised retail and aims to quality and  image, catering for the top market segment. This has been a deliberate choice and one of its main objectives is to increase its foreign markets. Bedetti is currently working with Switzerland, Germany, Great Britain, The United States, Canada, Brazil, Monaco, Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Australia, and China.
